Letter, 1776 September 18.

Letter to J. P. Palmer. Keith discusses various personal matters. He points out his happiness that he and Palmer are not in the same unit of the Continental Army, because he feels it would destroy their friendship. Keith also discusses the army's retreat from Long Island and New York City and states that they are now encamped six miles from New York. Written at Kingsbridge, N.Y.
